History of John Paul II Book - review.

In the history of Poland, there have been many people who had a significant impact on current society. In terms of recent Polish history it was undoubtedly Pope John Paul II. A recently published book, written in cooperation with Vatican, tells the story of a young man named Karol Wojtyła, who became a crucial figure for Poles, who were struggling during difficult times.

What is most fascinating about this book are the early chapters, which focus on the life of Karol Wojtyła before he became pope. They present him as an ordinary person, who is no different from other people from that period. What is even more astonishing is his path to finally becoming the head of the church. Thanks to that, we can believe that the most important thing is to follow what we consider to be right.

The second half of the book presents what happened during his pontificate. It was the period of the Cold War, when Poland was then in a challenging situation, due to the control of the communist authorities. However, the election of Polish pope gave people hope and strength to resist. This authority was so unshakable, that even the government was powerless during his pilgrimages. Ultimately, he contributed greatly to overcoming communism.

All in all, the book perfectly presents the story of John Paul II. It offers insight into his early life and his path to becoming pope. It also offers insight into how his actions contributed to changing Poland for the better. I highly recommend this book, especially to younger readers.
